I would never consider myself a patriot. In actuality, I’m quite the opposite. I’ve never been exactly proud to be an American. Besides, I’ve already told you that I’m convinced I’m actually a Brit (remember this). In fact, I’m such a bad American that I rarely even root for my country in the Olympics, although that has more to do with the fact that I’ve got a soft spot in my heart for the underdog, and Americans are never really the underdogs. In any event, since there really isn’t any red, white, and blue blood running through these veins, I never associate the festivities of July 4th with my nationalism. Notwithstanding, its actually one of my favorite holidays, mostly because it falls a week after my birthday and in the midst of my favorite season and almost always involves being outdoors in the sun. This outfit is July 4th inspired. Minus that vomit-inducing middle-American brand of patriotism. My kind of stars and stripes and about as patriotic as I’ll ever get. Now, if California had its own holiday, I’d go all out. I’m a very proud Californian. We are, afterall, the only significant state in the Union. Fact.
Happy 4th kids! xoxoRead More
