From the Shops:
Summer Shoes

This summer is all about espadrille flats — that much is undeniable. It started with those fancy little Chanel’s that went flying out of stores before most of us had the chance to blink. Luckily, other fashionable options have not been in short supply. My favorites are the silver and black ones from Zara (they are on sale now too!). Forget sandals, ladies – this variety of summer flat is the perfect mix of fashion and comfort. Plus, you can get away with a not so perfect pedi!

Red, White, and Malibu

Current/Elliott boyfriend jeans, Zara top and shoes, Ray Ban sunnies, Low Luv x Erin Wasson bracelets, MAC brave red lipstick

I spent Independence Day in Las Vegas, which means I completely deprived myself of any opportunity to look cute and festive. Luckily, however, I’ve been rocking different variations of red, white, and blue with these Current/Elliott’s since I made them mine last month, including a few weekends ago at the Malibu Pier. When it comes to cost per wear, I can absolutely say that I’ve already recovered the money spent, which means they were a wise, wise buy. And since you all know I’m literally obsessed with summer, I naturally have an affinity for all things stars and stripes and red, white, and blue. In fact, I love everything about the 4th of July. Well, everything but America. Therein lies the paradox!

Joyeux Anniversaire

I know my mom was definitely NOT reading this whilst waiting for my arrival in Portland, Oregon in the summer of 1981, but I kind of like to think that maybe she was. Please note the “Happy Birthday” necklace. Loves!

Last Friday, two things happened: (1) It was the first day of summer; and (2) Vogue’s July 2013 issue arrived in my mail with the headline “Fall Fashion.” Every year just when I’m in the best of spirits about the arrival of my favorite season, this happens, so by now I should be prepared for it. But every year, this painful reminder that summer is only temporary, sneaks up on me and punches me in the face in a way that makes me sad and mad at the same time! Even though the summer season is just beginning, fall fashion will be making its way into stores any day now, and that depresses me! I know I should be excited because the arrival of fall clothing means summer sales, but I’m not. I want fall to stay far, far, far away until September (well, ideally much later, but I don’t have the power to make adjustments to the seasonal calendar that is). So anyways kiddies, enough of the sulking. Happy Summer! Fall, go make yourself busy doing something else for a few months and leave my mailbox and everything else in my life alone!
